New observation deck overlooking Tokyo’s Shibuya to open this year

A new observation deck offering a bird’s eye view of Tokyo’s iconic Shibuya intersection will open later this year.

Slated to open in November, the 47-storey “Shibuya Scramble Square” will include a 230m high open-air observation deck overlooking what is believed to be the busiest intersection in the world.

Often dubbed Japan’s answer to New York Times Square, Shibuya has become a symbol of the frenetic and scrambling centre of modern Japanese culture, with up to 1000 people crossing the multi-cornered intersection at a time.
