W Brisbane has appointed Michael Clarke as hotel manager, one of three new staff appointments across the hotel’s managerial, food and beverage and spa teams.
Clarke brings over 15 years’ experience to his new role following his previous tenure as hotel manager at Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Port Douglas, in which he led them to win Hotel of the Year in 2021 for Marriott’s premium brands. He was also the recipient of The Spirit To Serve award at the Marriott International Excellence awards.
The other appointments are John Kennedy as new executive chef and Yumi Kwan as spa manager. Kennedy was previously executive chef at renowned 5-star resort qualia. He has also managed and executed a number of large-scale, high profile events such as Hamilton Island Race Week, the Paspaley White Luncheon and the Pas de Deux in Paradise gala dinner for The Australian Ballet.
