New function centre part of Taronga Western Plains Zoo’s $24m redevelopment plans

Taronga Western Plains Zoo has unveiled plans for a $24 million redevelopment that includes a new function room, restaurant and accommodation.

The plans submitted to Dubbo Regional Council include the 300-pax Serengeti function centre and 170-seat restaurant.

“The proposal shall further complement and enhance the existing Taronga Western Plains Zoo as it will support its current exhibits, accommodation, and tourism,” the plans stated.

“The social and economic impacts of the proposed development relate to the expansion of existing facilities on a site that is used for tourism in the city of Dubbo.”
