New event for the Illawarra promises plenty of foam

Locals in the Illawarra are gearing up for new event being planned for the October public holiday.

The Festival of Foam and Light is promising neon and laser light shows, fire eaters and plenty of foam at the Bulli Showgrounds on the Labour Day public holiday (October 7).

Event organiser Jagat A Deniau said the inspiration for the foam came from a brainstorming session with her children.

“In some publication overseas I saw people in families were mucking around in foam, there were lots of rides … so I asked my daughter what she would like,” she told the Illawarra Mercury.

The showgrounds will be filled with foam pits for adults and kids, an inflatable obstacle course, carnival rides, food trucks, DJs and live music.

“It’s kind of like having two festivals in one,” she said. “The foam part will go on for the whole day and at night that whole area will be lit up, then the light shows start once getting dark.”

A development application is currently before Wollongong City Council and on exhibition until May 29.
