New Caledonia drops quarantine and reopens borders for vaccinated Aussies

New Caledonia has reopened its borders for fully vaccinated international visitors and dropped all quarantine restrictions.

Australian travellers will be required to perform either a PCR test valid for less than 72 hours before departure or a Rapid Antigen Test valid for less than 48 hours before departure.

“It is a big day for the country as restrictions are being lifted,” said Julie Laronde, New Caledonia Tourism’s general manager.

“After more than two years of Covid closure, it is a very exciting time and the opportunity to rebuild tourism to New Caledonia. We cannot wait to welcome our Australians neighbours back to our shores.”

Non-vaccinated travellers will still require a compelling motive to travel to New Caledonia and will need to complete a 7-day quarantine on arrival.
