The gap left by the cancellation of the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show has been filled by a new free boating festival.
The Sanctuary Cove Boating Festival will run from November 13-15 at the Sanctuary Cove Marine Village.
Boat Show sales and partnerships manager Dominic O’Brien said it was “nice to have something”.
“The festival is about 60 per cent of the (Boat Show) display space,” he told the Gold Coast Bulletin.
“It’s gratifying to receive the support of industry, to know we’re providing something they want.”
While the coronavirus pandemic forced the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show to cancel this year, it has had a positive effect on the number of people taking to the water, according to O’Brien.
“Australians are loving getting out on the water,” he said. “We expect exhibitors will get really good patronage.”
