Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre extends shutdown until June 30

Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) has announced it will keep its doors closed until June 30.

MCEC closed last month, initially saying it would reopen in April.

“While there is always a chance the situation will change sooner, the social distancing measures now in place suggest we should be prepared that this is unlikely, and it was determined it would be better to provide our customers and employees with clearer timelines so we can all plan accordingly,” MCEC said in a statement.

“As always, we will continue to monitor the situation and adjust plans accordingly. And as always, we’ll keep you informed about those plans.

“These are extremely challenging circumstances we find ourselves in, and will remain so for some time to come. But MCEC, like all of us, has a part to play in supporting the fight against COVID-19 and ensuring the wellbeing of our people, customers and visitors.”
