Marriott expands in Japan with multi-property conversion deal

Marriott International has inked a conversion deal that will see seven hotels rebrand to Marriott Hotels and Courtyard by Marriott across five popular destinations in Japan.

The agreement with HMI Hotel Group will see four of its properties rebrand under Marriott Hotel badges in Hamamatsu, Kyoto, Kobe and Okinawa and a further three rebrand to Courtyard by Marriott in Kobe and Kitakyushu.

“We are very pleased to welcome these properties to the fast-expanding portfolio of Marriott International properties across Japan,” said Rajeev Menon, Marriott’s APAC president.

“Conversion continues to drive a robust growth for the company on a global scale, and we are thrilled to embark on this project with HMI in Japan.”
