Maldives named World’s Leading Destination for the second year running

The Maldives has been named the World’s Leading Destination at the World Travel Awards for a second consecutive year.

The Maldives won the title by competing against 18 destinations including Dubai, Indonesia, Spain, Vietnam, USA and Greece.

During the pandemic, the Maldivian government promoted the unique geographical formation of the Maldivian islands and the “one-island-one-respect-concept” which emphasised Maldives as one of the safest destinations to travel to, according to Thoyyib Mohamed, CEO and managing director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations.
