Maitland Riverlights festival receives $20k from flagship grants program

Maitland Riverlights multicultural festival has received $20,000 from the NSW Government under the Destination NSW Regional Flagship Events Program.

Now in its eighth year, the last event attracted more than 8000 people to The Levee and organisers are expecting to boost this figure with the help of the grant money to promote the event actively outside of the Hunter region.

“It’s a celebration of Maitland’s culturally diverse community and with the help of the grant funding, which we’ve been lucky enough to receive for the second year in a row, we hope to be able to share our diversity and celebrate with even more visitors to the city,” Maitland Mayor Loretta Baker told the Maitland Mercury.

Riverlights will feature diverse cultural villages with food tasting, traditional games and arts, and music and dance on October 12.
