Lasseters Hotel Casino in Alice Springs is set to undergo a more than $70 million redevelopment that will more than double the current rooms available.

Owner Iris Capital has lodged plans that include a second 235-room hotel alongside the 205-room hotel operated by IHG Hotels & Resorts.

The new hotel will have an Aboriginal art theme, while the existing gaming areas, bars and restaurants will also be extended alongside a new hotel lobby.

“Iris Capital is excited about the opportunity to revitalise Lasseters by transforming it into the international-standard offering which Alice Springs deserves,” said Iris Capital’s Sam Arnaout.

“The significant upgrade will complement other exciting initiatives in Alice Springs, including the forthcoming National Aboriginal Art Gallery.”

Sydney-based Iris Capital acquired the property last year for $105 million.

The plans are waiting approval from the NT Government.
