Lasseters Hotel Casino in Alice Springs to get $70m expansion

Lasseters Hotel Casino in Alice Springs will undergo a $70 million expansion, with the number of accommodation rooms set to double.

A new rooftop bar and large swimming pool are also part of the redevelopment which is expected to begin later this year.

Chief Minister Michael Gunner welcomed the announcement by owners Iris Capital.

“They’re [Iris Capital] doing this because they have confidence in Alice Springs and the future of Alice Springs that this is a world class destination,” Gunner told the ABC.

The Northern Territory government also recently committed to building the National Aboriginal Art Gallery in the Alice Springs CBD.

“I think we’re going to see a lot more private sector investment follow now there is absolute certainty around the gallery and the investments that we’re making,” said Gunner.
