St Jerome’s Laneway Festival co-founder Jerome Borazio is being taken to court by the Australian Taxation Office over an unpaid tax and super debt totalling almost a million dollars.

The ATO alleges that four now defunct companies run by Borazio failed to pay employee superannuation and withheld tax deducted from workers over a 10-year period, which combined amounted to almost $960,000.

Borazio said that the companies mentioned by the ATO had no connection to the festival, which has grown since its launch in 2005 into a major drawcard for international acts.
