Jetstar has announced a new non-stop route between Sydney and Busselton Margaret River Airport, following the success of its Melbourne to Busselton flight.

The three-times-weekly service will launch on 26 March 2024 and be operated by a Jetstar Airbus A320 aircraft.

“This announcement comes off the back of the South West being named the fastest-growing regional destination in the country by the Tourism & Transport Forum, so we’re expecting this to be a popular flight amongst travellers from the eastern states,” said Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti.

“Direct flights form a really important part of our tourism strategy, as it brings more visitors into our State, injects valuable tourism dollars into our local economy and, of course, supports local jobs and businesses.”

Tourism Council WA said the new flights will provide more than 50,000 seats between Sydney and WA’s South West in the first year, including overseas travellers wishing to access the food and wine region without stopping over in Perth.

“This new flight from Sydney into Busselton Margaret River airport will bring new visitors to WA who are seeking shorter trips direct to destinations such as Margaret River,” said Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall.

“We expect this new service to attract new visitors to Western Australia from New South Wales, particularly families seeking to visit Perth and regional WA in one trip. For example, a Sydney family could fly into Perth for a major event, then road trip to the South West for a week, before flying home from Busselton Margaret River Airport.”
