International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) has taken home two accolades this week at the International Association of Convention Centres (AIPC) Congress held in Budapest.

The venue was named the overall winner of the AIPC Innovation Award which recognised ICC Sydney’s new one stop destination for digital event solutions – Connect Hub.

Meanwhile, the AIPC Future Shapers ‘EventShaper’ team, including ICC Sydney’s senior team members Mathew Haynes (senior manager, live events), who developed the original solution concept, together with Sandra Rae (senior manager PR), among other representatives from convention centres across the globe, was recognised for presenting a top new client portal platform, addressing a common industry challenge.

“Our people’s commitment to innovation, investment in upskilling and training, while consistently anticipating and prioritising our clients’ event needs has ensured ICC Sydney remains at the fore of audio visual technical delivery whether events are held in person, virtually or a hybrid of the two,” said ICC Sydney CEO Geoff Donaghy.

“We are immensely proud to have a culture that encourages our team of professionals to implement highly impactful innovations, such as Connect Hub, that underpin the success we deliver for our clients every day.

“Furthermore, ICC Sydney’s two team members in the inaugural AIPC Future Shapers leadership program have certainly represented the venue to the highest possible standard.”

Brian Nash, ICC Sydney’s director of AV services, welcomed the recognition for the team driving Connect Hub’s broad reaching digital solutions.

“Connect Hub was born out of our team’s agility and dedication to working with clients to ensure event success in these modern times of evolving operating conditions,” he said.
