The Ibis Hamilton Tainui hotel has re-opened to the public following a $7.7 million revamp.

The 126-room Ibis hotel was used as a quarantine facility until earlier this year.

General manager Philip Hilton said the hotel and its 217-room sister property the Novotel Hamilton Tainui were gearing up for a strong rebound in conferences and events.

Hamilton’s occupancy rate was also climbing seeing a 76 per cent occupancy rate in September, compared to 47 per cent nationally.

Events including this year’s Fieldays, the NZ Sevens and the women’s football world cup events are also providing a strong base, according to Hilton.
