Heritage Hotels expands in the South Island with new Dunedin property

Heritage Hotels have announced Heritage Dunedin Leisure Lodge will officially join the Group starting in May.

Graham Yan, CEO of Heritage Hotels, said they were delighted to welcome the well-established hotel to the Group.

“Dunedin is a city we have wanted to be represented in strategically for some time, but we were just waiting for the right property and now we have it,” he said.

“There are also many synergies in the corporate, leisure and meetings markets we operate in that will align well with Heritage Dunedin Leisure Lodge’s target markets.”

Set in two acres of park-like grounds, the 76 room hotel is situated on the former site of the McGavin Brewery which brewed its last beer in 1958. The hotel features McGavins Restaurant and Bar and two versatile conference facilities including one situated in a former malting kiln.

Leigh Stock, the hotel’s general manager, said they wanted to align with a group that shares the same values and high standards.

“We also appreciate Heritage Hotels are unique to New Zealand and are invested in the South,” said Stock. “We all share the same passion for this amazing region and look forward to promoting it together.”
