Fyre festival punters awarded $7k by court

A group of 277 attendees of the notorious 2017 Fyre Festival are set to receive a US$7,220 payout following a lawsuit against the organisers, convicted fraudster Billy McFarland and rapper Ja Rule.

Tickets to the festival in the Bahamas coast between US$1,000 and US$12,000, but punters were left in a Lord of the Flies situation when the festival was cancelled on its opening day leaving attendees without proper food or shelter.

McFarland is serving six years in prison, where he has just been released from solitary confinement after taking part in the recording of the Dumpster Fyre podcast in which he shared “everything that happened” regarding the festival.
