The ACT Government has given a funding boost in its latest Budget to planning and development of a new Canberra Convention and Entertainment Centre.

The new Canberra Convention and Entertainment Centre will form part of an events and entertainment precinct in the south east of the CBD.

ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr says the integrated convention and entertainment centre for live music, events and performances aims to fill a gap in the city’s current indoor event facilities.

“The proposed new Convention and Entertainment Centre in Canberra’s CBD is a key, city shaping project that will define the city centre,” said Barr.

“The project is an important asset for our local tourism and business sector, while the entertainment centre will ensure that Canberra is a much more attractive tour option for live music and entertainment.”
