Fran Barlow to manage MEA’s flagship event EVOLVE

Fran Barlow was one of two MEA staff whose roles were cut.

Fran Barlow has joined Meetings & Events Australia’s (MEA) team to manage its flagship event EVOLVE, MEA Awards program and a number of national events.

She brings strong experience in the events industry in delivering high profile and significant conferences, awards and festivals both in the UK and Australia, with previous roles including events director of the Institute of Fundraising and British Press Awards and festival director positions for the Cardiff Animation Festival and the Edinburgh International Television Festival.

Barlow also has an extensive background working in the not for profit and corporate sectors having spent 10 years as head of events and sponsorship with Microsoft Australia and more recently as partnerships executive at the Walkley Foundation.

MEO chief executive Robyn Johnson said they were delighted to have Barlow join as a member of the MEA team.

“She will bring an amazing set of skills and experience to our events, particularly EVOLVE, that will continue to build on its success and establish it as the leading and must attend event in the events sector in Australia,” Johnson said.

Barlow described her appointment as “an incredible and exciting opportunity to work on events for the events industry in an organisation that is transforming under the leadership of Robyn”.

“It enables me to return to my passion of event management and professional development for our sector,” she said.
