Former world’s best restaurant Mirazur heading to Pier One in Sydney

Three Michelin starred French restaurant Mirazur will take over Sydney harbourside restaurant The Gantry at Pier One Hotel for three weeks from March 10.

Mirazur topped the list of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants back in 2019. Mirazur is the second Michelin starred restaurant to announce it would head to Sydney, with England’s L’Enclume restaurant taking over Bathers Pavilion for five weeks from July 19.

“We’re not travelling to Australia just to be seen and cook some dishes, though,” Mirazur founder Mauro Colagreco told Good Food.

“We want guests to experience Mirazur’s approach to gastronomy, but we also want to learn from people and local produce. We want to bring new ideas back home.”

The menu will be led by executive chef Luca Mattioli and “garden scientist” Silvina Dayer.

“We want to find producers that take good care of their soil, because when you look after the soil, the nutrients make the flavour of the fruit and vegetables so much better,” said Colagreco.

The Mirazur team will also work closely with with Gantry chef Rhys Connell.

“The Gantry’s strong connection with local produce and suppliers will help bring a taste of Mirazur to Sydney,” Pier One general manager Kim Mahaffy said.

And the cost for a taste of Mirazur – $685 a head with wine pairing starting at $210. You have four weeks to start saving.
