Floriade cancelled over safety concerns

Canberra’s annual flower show Floriade has been cancelled this year following concerns of a small but growing cluster of coronavirus cases.

Eight new cases have been recorded in the Australian Capital Territory which is still under lockdown.

“It’s just not safe to operate large-scale events in any capacity in the circumstances,” ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr said.

It is the second year the show has been cancelled due to the pandemic.
