First look inside QT Auckland

QT Auckland has given a glimpse of what to expect when its doors open later this year.

Set to open on November 1 at Viaduct Harbour, the hotel will offer 150 rooms.

“We have blended contrast and quirk for QT Auckland as we have with each unique QT Property,” said QT’s long-time designer Nic Graham.

“The idea was onset by my first visit to Auckland and a dozen oysters – the salty sweet is a metaphor for the design, where we have elevated the bold use of colour and created a cocooning interior that uses interesting local materials and suppliers, adding to the harbour-based neighbourhood narrative of QT Auckland.

“We have mixed custom furniture with found objects and iconic originals, creating an unmistakeable QT experience. Bold environmental graphics draw from the wonderlands of the NZ coast and we proudly support local and international artists throughout the hotel.”

Doron Whaite has been appointed as general manager following roles at QT Sydney and QT Perth.

“The experience philosophy behind each QT is to ‘expect the unexpected’,” Whaite said.

“QT Auckland will certainly deliver this, with unpredictable twists across art and design, throughout the dining outlets, and amplified through our people, delivering a highly-personalised signature service to each guest.

“QT Auckland will be a truly immersive experience. Channelling the local neighbourhood while adding QT’s luxuriously quirky design, it’s unlike anything the Auckland hotel market has seen before. With stunning waterfront views and QT’s signature dining concepts, we can’t wait for locals and visitors to experience what will undoubtedly be one of Auckland’s finest hotels.”
