Festival organiser goes under leaving Lunar Electric ticket holders in limbo

Intensive Events, the organiser of Gold Coast music festival Lunar Electric, has gone into liquidation leaving ticket holders in limbo.

Originally scheduled for March 11, Lunar Electric was postponed until September after failing to secure a line-up in time, with organisers telling ticket holders to hang on until new dates were announced.

“We want to ensure we deliver the best line-up and experience for you all, and this just couldn’t be achieved at this time,” the organisers said in February.

“Keep hold of your ticket and we’ll give you 1x complimentary ticket for the new date in September.”

But a winding-up order was brought against Intensive Events in May by Queensland hire company TFH Hire, with insolvency firm Cor Cordis stating that the festival would not be proceeding.

“The Lunar Electric festival scheduled for September 2023, which was originally to be held in March 2023, will not proceed,” Cor Cordis said in a statement.

“The liquidator has commenced his investigations into the company’s failure. Cor Cordis will now assess the company’s financials, realise any available company assets, and conduct investigations into any potential claims.”
