Plans have been unveiled that will see Sydney’s Middle Head redeveloped with a new event space and food and beverage venues on the cards.

The site near Mosman currently houses derelict military buildings, but the new proposal wants to revamp the area so it can host festivals, sporting events, concerts and conferences.

The planned precinct would include a new overhead structure linking two existing buildings within the old 10 Terminal, and a food and beverage operation and lawn that could be used for outside events. The event space would cater for between 500 and 2000 people per day.

The biggest obstacle though is access, with only one road into the area.

“At the moment you don’t get that experience,” Sydney Harbour Federation Trust executive director Janet Carding told The Sydney Morning Herald.

“It’s a bit fragmented as a site. Some things you can pick up and other things you can’t.”

The draft master plan is on exhibition for public feedback until mid-April.
