Dubai Expo opens marking the world’s largest in-person event since pandemic

Dubai has finally opened its world fair Expo 2020 after a year-long postponement due to the pandemic.

The United Arab Emirates has spent more than US$7 billion on the event and is hoping to see around 25 million people pass through the doors in what is the world’s biggest in-person event since the start of the pandemic.

More than 190 countries are participating in the expo including Australia, with pavilions spread across 483 hectares. There will also be more than 60 daily shows; 200-plus restaurants highlighting global cuisines; and themed weeks on topics such as climate change and biodiversity, urban and rural development, space, and inclusivity.

From now until the end of March, passengers flying into or via Abu Dhabi with Etihad Airways will receive complimentary entry to the world expo.
