Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre is set to welcome an expected crowd of 5,000 this weekend to the very first Australian DragExpo, which is making its debut after a two year pandemic postponement.
“MCEC is so thrilled to welcome the first ever Australian DragExpo which promsies to be a bright and animated weekend across the building,” MCEC chief commercial Officer Melissa Sweetland said.
“It is such a positive for Melbourne to be welcoming back the creative businesses after the pandemic saw them take such a significant hit.”
Set over three days, Australian fans will catch up with local and international drag artists, with a VIP Opening Gala on Friday.
Stephen Craddock, director of organiser ITDEVENTS, said they had been involved in the drag scene for over a decade.
“We love the artistry, colour, positive message and fun that it brings to our country,” he said.
“This is our first-ever Drag Expo and it is already shaping up to be an epic, super flamboyant, jam-packed event. DragExpo will truly shine a light on our colourful world.”
