John Borghetti has been appointed Chair of Crown Resorts.

Crown Resorts has appointed former Virgin Australia chief John Borghetti as its new chairman.

Borghetti will replace American casino executive Bill McBeath, who will remain on the board. Borghetti will also retain his position as chairman of Crown Sydney.

“I am proud that both Crown Melbourne and Crown Sydney have retained their licences to operate during this time, and that the remediation work in Crown Perth is well progressed,” McBeath said.

“Borghetti is a very highly regarded director and executive whose extensive operational, leadership and governance experience will ensure Crown continues to focus on safe and responsible operations while growing and enhancing its entertainment experiences.”

Crown recently began cutting costs by slashing up to 1000 jobs across its three casinos as its owners Blackstone look to restructure the gaming company after a period of turmoil.

“I look forward to continuing the transformation of Crown Resorts, ensuring the company exceeds the expectations of all its stakeholders,” Borghetti said.
