Marriott International will bring its Courtyard by Marriott brand to Brisbane in February 2021.
Courtyard by Marriott, South Bank will open under a franchise agreement with the hotel’s owner Horan Group.
“We now have a confirmed pipeline of five more Courtyard by Marriott hotels under planning across Australia’s three largest accommodation markets of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane,” said Richard Crawford, senior director of hotel development.
“While the industry continues to face challenges, we are seeing existing hotels seeking to enhance their profile and reach by tapping into Marriott’s leading distribution platforms. The rebranding of Horan Group’s hotel to Courtyard by Marriott is an example of this trend.”
Courtyard by Marriott Brisbane, South Bank will comprise 134 guest rooms, an all-day dining restaurant Café63 and gymnasium. The indoor heated pool and flexible meeting space overlook the Brisbane River and South Bank parklands.
Marriott will also open two new Courtyard by Marriott hotels in Melbourne’s outer suburbs.
The new hotels will open in Mulgrave and Truganina in December 2023 and December 2024.
“Despite the challenges faced by our industry, 2020 has been a record year of hotel signings for Marriott International in the Australia Pacific region, demonstrating investor’s confidence in the hotel industry’s prospects of success beyond this year,” said Crawford.
