- Business Events Adelaide has made two key appointments in the UK and US as it targets international associations.
Business Events Adelaide has announced the appointment of two new in-market international contractors to grow Adelaide’s global reach.
Located in New York, Frances Iacono has joined the team as associate director of partnerships, North America, while London-based Amanda Pelvay will step into the role of associate director of partnerships, UK and Europe.
These appointments enable the organisation to establish and build in-person relationships across four continents.
“As we press forward with our ambitions to position Adelaide as a tier two destination of choice, it is crucial to have representatives present in our target markets,” Business Events Adelaide CEO Damien Kitto said.
“These additional resources will ensure we can be proactive in attracting prominent business events and corporate incentive groups from North America and Europe.”
Kitto said an unexpected benefit is that both Fran and Amanda originally hail from South Australia.
“It gives them – and us – a great advantage,” he said. “The combination of Fran and Amanda’s high-calibre industry expertise and their innate local knowledge about our city and its venues, industry strengths and experiences is a significant asset to advancing our international operations.”
These appointments come as Business Events Adelaide also strengthens its global alliances by entering into a partnership agreement with the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), one of only 12 globally.
“A partnership with ICCA gives us a seat at the table with the organisations that decide where the world’s major congresses go next,” said Kitto.
“It strengthens our ability to identify the right opportunities early, build relationships with international decision-makers and bring more of that high-value business back to our members here in Adelaide.”
