Brisbane Showgrounds is enjoying its busiest month of the year so far, with more than 30 events taking place this month.
It’s a far cry from this time last year, with no events able to be held at the venue in May 2020 due to Covid-19 public gathering restrictions, shutdowns and social distancing measures.
Events taking place at the Showgrounds this month include Australia’s only international standard cake, baking and sweet show, which is expected to welcome more than 5,000 people.
The Brisbane Showgrounds’ Royal International Convention Centre has also been busy with major events including last week’s Technology One conference which was attended by 900 people.
Brisbane Showgrounds general manager of venue sales and marketing Jago Coyle said it was fantastic to see the events sector rebounding.
“Last year with the impacts of Covid-19, we were only able to host 97 events – down 65 per cent on the 278 staged in 2019,” he said.
“We’ve had a great start to the year and we’re pleased to have more than 100 events scheduled for the remainder of 2021, including Queensland’s biggest caravanning event, the Let’s Go Queensland Caravan and Camping Supershow, early next month.”
