Bluesfest organisers have launched a new permanent marquee within the Byron Events Farm with a concert by Xavier Rudd.

The 25m x 24m Green Room is the first of three permanent venues planned for the site at Tyagarah.

“Last night was a resounding success, we sold out in advance all 1500 tickets,” Bluesfest’s Peter Noble told NBN News.

“The next one is our amphitheatre, which will be a little bit bigger and hold around 5,000 people.”

Tourism Minister Ben Franklin attended the opening, saying the region “has desperately needed a venue like this for decades”.

“A venue where a couple of thousand people can come together and have a fantastic night,” he said.

Bluesfest recently won gold at the NSW Tourism Awards in the Major Festivals and Events category marking the sixth gold win for the team.

It won silver in 2014 and 2012 and was inducted into the NSW Tourism Hall of Fame in 2017.
