Bleach* Festival organisers have cancelled the popular Botanic Gardens Concert Series in what they described as “extremely difficult decision”.
The organisers blamed the ongoing lockdowns across three states for the decision to cancel the event which was due to be held from August 13-15.
“It’s with a heavy heart that today we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel one part of Bleach* 2021 …,” the organisers stated on social media.
“This extremely difficult decision comes after careful consultation between organisers, artists and health authorities, particularly in regards to interstate lockdowns and travel restrictions.”
The concerts were set to feature The Necks, Sarah Blasko, The Song Company and musicians from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.
The festival itself is still set to open on August 12
“Rest assured, we’re marching on with every intention to deliver the best possible festival for your and we’re excited that our opening event First Light, on August 12, is only a matter of days away,” the organisers said.
“It’s free, fantastic and we hope to see your there.”
