BCEC ramps up recruitment as face-to-face events take off

Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) has embarked on a major recruitment drive as business confidence returns.

With 300 events on the calendar through to the end of July, BCEC is looking to recruit new team members across a range of positions in the areas of operations, business development, food and beverage, audio visual, sales, marketing, security and more.

The Centre’s current recruitment drive will join ASM Global’s industry first world-wide virtual Job Fair which kicked off this week with more than 1,000 jobs up for grabs, company-wide.

Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre general manager Bob O’Keeffe said the post pandemic landscape presented a whole new paradigm in the Centre’s approach to delivering events in regard to flexibility, versatility and a multi skilled workforce.

“As one of the first convention centres to resume operations during the pandemic we learnt to be agile, adapting to constantly changing circumstances to successfully deliver hundreds of events in a safe environment,” he said.

“Adaptability, efficiency and innovation were key and many of those changes will be integrated in current operations to achieve the Centre’s world-renowned customer service levels.”

BCEC’s recruitment processes have been streamlined with successful applicants offered the position at the conclusion of an interview, wherever possible, as well as providing an employment contract within 48 hours.
