Air New Zealand's Skycouch and the Skynest beds are set to be introduced on its ultra long haul flights.

Air New Zealand has scooped the Best Economy Class Cabin in the World title in the Airline Excellence Awards.

The carrier scooped the award for its Skycouch and the Skynest beds which will be introduced next year starting with the 17-hour Auckland to New York route.

“It’s always an incredible honour to be recognised for our innovation and offering onboard,” said Air New Zealand chief customer and sales officer, Leanne Geraghty.

“We reimagined the economy cabin with the Skycouch introduced in 2011, and when our Skynest product is onboard next year, it will be the world’s first fully lie flat option for economy customers.

“We’re always looking for ways to make the experience for customers onboard better and will continue to push boundaries and provide our warm Kiwi hospitality no matter where you’re seated.”

Singapore Airlines won the title of Best First Class for 2024, in addition to Best First Class Comfort Amenities and Best Airline in Asia awards.

“Since refreshing our Suites in 2017, customer feedback on our innovative amenities, personalised service and luxurious spaces has been hugely positive, and we are proud to once again be recognised as best in class,” said Louis Arul, regional vice president south west pacific, for Singapore Airlines.
