Adrienne Readings has been appointed Chair of Destination Gold Coast (DGC), taking over from Paul Donovan, who served a 17-year tenure in the role.
Readings is currently general manager of the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) and volunteers on several boards and committees.
“I’m honoured to take on this role at such a crucial time for tourism on the Gold Coast and am looking forward to working with all stakeholders to ensure that the city continues to shine as a destination for both business and leisure tourism,” she said.
“DGC has an incredibly strong team led by CEO Patricia O’Callaghan, supporting our local operators and businesses. Our vision is to build on our history as one of Australia’s most popular destinations into an even more attractive choice for visitors.”
Destination Gold Coast CEO Patricia O’Callaghan welcomed the appointment.
“Adrienne will be a strong asset to the Destination Gold Coast Board as Chair with more than 30 years’ experience in business events, tourism management and hospitality,” O’Callaghan said.
“This timely appointment means we can now progress into 2022 making decisions based on clear strategies that benefits our tourism operators
“The critical Chairperson role is about helping steer the direction of Australia’s most popular tourist destination and we have no doubt Adrienne will continue to help raise the city’s profile as a proud Gold Coast advocate.”
Donovan he was “confident in handing over the reins” to Readings.
“Adrienne has been a strong and active supporter of the Gold Coast throughout her career and takes every opportunity to grow the reputation and success of our city,” he said.
