Adelaide hotel bookings off to strong start

Forward hotel bookings in Adelaide for the first quarter are up five per cent on 2023 due to the upcoming season of major events, according to the Adelaide Economic Development Agency.

This month’s occupancy rates are currently at 51 per cent, compared to 46 per cent last January, while forward bookings for February are at 34 per cent, compared to 26 per cent in 2023.

March and April are also up on last year at 36 per cent and 31 per cent respectively.

Australian Hotels Association SA chief executive Anna Moeller said the sector was “cautiously confident” with major sporting events such as LIV Golf and Gather Round helping draw interstate visitors.

SA Tourism Minister Zoe Bettison said the inaugural AFL Gather Round contributed more than $83 million to the state’s economy last year.
