ACT calls on feds to share the cost of building new convention centre precinct in Canberra

The ACT Government is calling on the Federal Government to split the bill on construction of a new convention centre and entertainment pavilion in Canberra.

Plans for the new Convention Centre Precinct include new convention facilities and an indoor Entertainment Pavilion suitable for live music and major indoor sporting events.

The preferred location for the precinct would include the current convention centre site and the adjacent block across the road.

“These proposed partnerships with the Commonwealth are consistent with the intent of the Commonwealth’s urban Precincts and Partnerships Program, which seeks to enable transformative investment in urban Australia based on the principles of unifying urban places, growing economies and serving communities,” a government spokesperson said.
