Marriott International has debuted its AC Hotels by Marriott brand in Australia with the opening of AC Hotel by Marriott Melbourne Southbank.

The new hotel features 205 guest rooms and suites, signature restaurant Sorolla, the Triana Bar with sweeping views of the city skyline and an infinity pool.

There is also 576 square metres of flexible meeting space, with floor-to-ceiling windows, along with an outdoor covered terrace room and pool bar.

The outdoor terrace beside the infinity pool can serve as a pre-function space accommodating up to 200 guests in cocktail format or broken down into smaller spaces for breakouts and more intimate meetings and social gatherings.

AC Melbourne Southbank also features a range of collaborative spaces including the brand’s signature AC Lounge, a modern co-working space that offers European-style tapas by night.

Sean Hunt, Marriott’s local boss, said the new hotel marks the 14th brand entry within Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio in Australia.

“Melbourne is the cultural and design capital of Australia, allowing a seamless fit for AC Hotels, known for its purposeful design and the perfectly curated experiences,’ he said.

“With the border re-openings, we look forward to welcoming guests and travellers through distinctive and diversified branded experiences while they explore our wonderful country.”
